Humans have used plants medicinally for over 60,000 years. However, "natural" doesn't mean "safe," and correct plant identification is absolutely critical. Always use our Plant Identifier to confirm species before harvesting any plant for medicinal purposes.
Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis miller)
Succulent with thick, fleshy, serrated leaves. Clear gel inside leaves has well-documented benefits for minor burns and sunburn. Apply gel directly to affected area.
Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea)
Large daisy-like purple flowers with a spiky orange-brown central cone. Multiple studies support modest benefit in reducing cold duration and severity. Excellent pollinator plant — see Native Pollinator Plants.
